Summary

The elves come for two things: war and wives。 In both cases, they come for death。

Three-thousand years ago, humans were hunted by powerful races with wild magic until the treaty was formed。 Now, for centuries, the elves have taken a young woman from Luella's village to be their Human Queen。

To be chosen is seen as a mark of death by the townsfolk。 A mark nineteen-year-old Luella is grateful to have escaped as a girl。 Instead, she's dedicated her life to studying herbology and becoming the town's only healer。

That is, until the Elf King unexpectedly arrives。。。 for her。

Everything Luella had thought she'd known about her life, and herself, was a lie。 Taken to a land filled with wild magic, Luella is forced to be the new queen to a cold yet blisteringly handsome Elf King。 Once there, she learns about a dying world that only she can save。

The magical land of Midscape pulls on one corner of her heart, her home and people tug on another。。。 but what will truly break her is a passion she never wanted。

A Deal with the Elf King is a complete, stand-alone novel, inspired by the tales of Hades and Persephone, as well as Beauty and the Beast, with a "happily ever after" ending。 It's perfect for fantasy romance fans looking for just the right amount of steam and their next slow-burn and swoon-worthy couple。

DNF at 46%。 Dammit, this was the perfect kind of fantasy romance synopsis for me but I was unfortunately really unimpressed by its execution。 The beginning is okay but then things sort of take a jump and after that it turned into info dump after info dump。 Some of its information that we need to know but the old adage is true- show not tell! I don't think the character reads younger than she is, but the narrative voice does and it's all a bit odd。 DNF at 46%。 Dammit, this was the perfect kind of fantasy romance synopsis for me but I was unfortunately really unimpressed by its execution。 The beginning is okay but then things sort of take a jump and after that it turned into info dump after info dump。 Some of its information that we need to know but the old adage is true- show not tell! So sad because I had such high expectations for this book but it ended up being bland。 The characters were inconsistent throughout the book that it took away from the story。 Spoiler: I still don’t get why the first queen couldn’t have solved it herself or why they had to be so cryptic in their journals。 It made no sense。

I want to give it a 3。5 stars。It's better than a 3; it thoroughly had my attention throughout and I loved Eldas。 But I also can't say that it was 4 stars either。 It didn't complete 'pop' if that makes any sense haha I want to give it a 3。5 stars。It's better than a 3; it thoroughly had my attention throughout and I loved Eldas。 But I also can't say that it was 4 stars either。 It didn't complete 'pop' if that makes any sense haha 。。。more

OK so this fits in a specific kind of fantasy book。 And this is exactly the kind of book it is。 If you liked ACOTAR, you will probably like this book。

Okay, I loved it。 Absolutely devoured it。 From start to finish I was obsessed with Luella, Eldas, Midscape, magic, Hook, and everything in between。 What a unique imagining of high fantasy! Great story, wonderful world。 Would have liked even more details to the story and the world。 I would have been more than happy to read a book double that size。 But overall a delight!

3/5 StarsPlot: The plot was pretty thorough, but I don't see an opening for a second book with that ending。 Writing: In the beginning, the writing was meh。 There was not a lot of characterization or background。 I needed more of a beginning/setting before the conflict started。 Overall, the writing could've been edited more for flow and pacing。 I really like the married for convenience trope, which is one of the reasons I enjoyed this book。 Characters: The only reason this is rated so high is beca 3/5 StarsPlot: The plot was pretty thorough, but I don't see an opening for a second book with that ending。 Writing: In the beginning, the writing was meh。 There was not a lot of characterization or background。 I needed more of a beginning/setting before the conflict started。 Overall, the writing could've been edited more for flow and pacing。 I really like the married for convenience trope, which is one of the reasons I enjoyed this book。 Characters: The only reason this is rated so high is because I really enjoyed the characters。 I liked Luella and Eldas's relationship and I thought it was sweet。 。。。more

This is one of the most predictable books I've ever read。 Any fantasy trope you can think of? It's in there。 It's like the book goes from one predictable scenario to another。 Not a single surprising thing happens in this book。 I am really disappointed as I was expecting much more from this author, since I did like other works from them。 I want to mention just 2 things:1。 He’s startled。 He was startled。 I did this and he was startled。 Startled。 Startled。 Startled。 The word startled is used about This is one of the most predictable books I've ever read。 Any fantasy trope you can think of? I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve read your book。 That’s the great thing about an amazing novel, you can read it over and over and get something new out of it。 。。。 If you have some great stories like this one, you can publish it on Novel Star, just submit your story to hardy@novelstar。top or joye@novelstar。top

The kings personality was dull and the plot was boring。

Fast then super slow then fast againThe speed of events throughout the book seemed a bit incongruent to the pace of character and relationship development。 There are also multiple points of the plot that should have been explored further, but seem to have been sacrificed for the sake of that character development。 It was still an enjoyable read, but I just wasn't as invested as I wanted to be。 I was also led to believe there would be more *spice* lol Fast then super slow then fast againThe speed of events throughout the book seemed a bit incongruent to the pace of character and relationship development。 There are also multiple points of the plot that should have been explored further, but seem to have been sacrificed for the sake of that character development。 It was still an enjoyable read, but I just wasn't as invested as I wanted to be。 I was also led to believe there would be more *spice* lol 。。。more

I liked this。 Not the best Elf romance, not the worst。 I wanted more from the world and more from the side characters。 I just wanted more in general。 Was very entertaining though and I enjoyed it for what it was。

I give this book 4。5。 It was enjoyable, I liked the storyline and the romance。 There was just something missing that made me downgrade it from a 5。 I wouldn't want to read it again。 I do agree with some other reviews that they may as well have all been human。 We aren't introduced to more than the elves and fae and their magic wasn't that exciting。 I would have liked it to be a bit darker。 It was an easy read and a tad juicier than your average YA。 I give this book 4。5。 It was enjoyable, I liked the storyline and the romance。 There was just something missing that made me downgrade it from a 5。 I wouldn't want to read it again。 I do agree with some other reviews that they may as well have all been human。 We aren't introduced to more than the elves and fae and their magic wasn't that exciting。 I would have liked it to be a bit darker。 It was an easy read and a tad juicier than your average YA。 。。。more

From finishing it, the pacing feels off。 It was a good start, then slow, then rushes the end。 Most of the middle seemed filler to me。 I liked the main characters development but the others needed more depth。 More understanding or context。 We barely understood why they did or felt things until later on making it hard to relate。By the time romance blossoms we are 70% done with the book。 Either lengthen the book or sort the pacing in the middle。I wasn't swooning like other novels but I was happy wi From finishing it, the pacing feels off。 It was a good start, then slow, then rushes the end。 Most of the middle seemed filler to me。 I liked the main characters development but the others needed more depth。 More understanding or context。 We barely understood why they did or felt things until later on making it hard to relate。By the time romance blossoms we are 70% done with the book。 Either lengthen the book or sort the pacing in the middle。I wasn't swooning like other novels but I was happy with the ending。 Overall, adore the cover, I think more than the actual story? 😬 。。。more

1,5 stars。 This year I've said to myself "Let's try and not DNF so many books, yeah?"。 Do I regret that statement? Yes, a little bit。 I can't say this book was all bad, but just。。。I suppose I was expecting a lot more from the story。 Let's start off with the good things - it's a Hades and Persephone/Beauty and the Beast loose retelling (which is what drew me to it in the first place), with our main heroine getting dragged into the Elven kingdom as the chosen Queen。 The cover is also gorgeous。The 1,5 stars。 This year I've said to myself "Let's try and not DNF so many books, yeah?"。 Do I regret that statement? —grita Eldas。 gia。 *・。 。。。more
